To use this companion CD-ROM to its fullest potential you 
should either install or have copies of the latest Netscape 
or Internet Explorer release and QuickTime 3.0. Macromedia 
Shockwave and Acrobat Reader are also recommended but not 
necessary. With a 28.8 dial-up connection or better the .html
files included on this disc will allow you to access the 
latest career information and enjoy quality video from your 
CD-ROM and over the web. 

NOTE 1: The "Finance Center" & "Career Workshops" sections will
open a new window to the online edition of this program. To play 
movies from your CD-ROM, make sure you are in the original
window with the masthead stating "CD-ROM edition".

NOTE 2: When using Netscape Navigator on a Macintosh, Microsoft(R)
Word documents found in the Spreadsheet Exercises section may
not open automatically; instead, they may download to the hard
drive. To rectify this situation:
- In Netscape, under the Edit menu select Preferences. 
- In the Category selection area select Applications. 
- On the right side of the Preference window in the Application's
selection area, select Microsoft(R) Word document and click the
Edit... button. 
- Next click the Application radio button.
- Then click the OK button. 
- And finally, click the OK button to close the Preference window.

Installation
- Download and install any or all of the necessary software
  before starting including any browsers or plug-ins (see above) 
- Run "SETUP.EXE", found in the 'QTime3' folder, this will
  install video playback software
- Establish a dial-up connection with your Internet Access 
  Provider (AOL, Earthlink, Netcom, etc.). If you are using
  a computer with a constant net connection (such as on a
  school network or computer lab) you can skip this step.
- To start Finance Center, make sure the CD in the CD ROM drive,
  double-click the "clickme.htm" file.
- (Windows only) To install fincoach, select your cd-rom and then the
  fincoach folder, pick "setup.exe" (e.g. d:\fincoach\setup.exe)

Troubleshooting Tips
- If you select "clickme.htm" and Windows gives you an "Open 
  With" dialog, select "other" and point to your preffered
  browser. Either "netscape.exe" or "iexplore.exe". Remember
  you must have either Netscape 4.0x or Explorer 4.01 already
  installed for this to work.
- When you click on a movie and the browser asks you whether 
  to "Open the File" or "Save it to disk" select "Open the File"
  You may wish to check the box stating: "Don't show this again" 
- If the movies are stuttering click the rightmost arrow in
  the movie controller and choose "Plug-In settings" from the
  drop down menu. DESELECT "play movies automatically". This
  will give your browser the chance to fully preload the movie
  before playback. 
- Be sure to close any other open applications in the 
  background as this might affect playback
- From the Math Practice Center you can toggle back & forth
  between FinCoach and your browser by hitting Alt + Tab
- Occasionally one of the external links may break because the
  site has moved or content has been updated. If this is the
  case go to http://www.prenhall.com/financecenter to view
  the latest updated links
