Investment Company Institute, Mutual Fund Fact Book. (202) 326-5800. Describes important trends in the mutual fund industry. Good background reading if you are preparing for a job interview with a mutual fund.

Investment Management, by Frank J. Fabozzi, Prentice-Hall (Uppper Saddle River, NJ), 1995. Does a nice job of covering investment practice and principles of asset and liability management for insurance companies, pension funds, banks and investment companies.

Marketing Investment Management Services: Innovative Strategies for Capturing and Keeping Key Investment Accounts, edited by Nick Mencher and Brian Bruce, Probus Publications, Chicago, IL. 1992. Jobs marketing money management services are potentially more lucrative than those managing the funds. This is a good book to use to start learning how it's done.

Moody's Bank and Finance Manual, Moody's Investors Services, New York, NY (212) 553-0300. This manual covers thousands of mutual funds, banks, real estate companies and financial companies. Provides names of executives, recent financial performance and detailed histories. A great research resource.

Nelson's Directory of Investment Managers, Nelson Publications, Port Chester, NY, 1995. This is the definitive guide to money managers which lists names and addresses of managers around the United States along with additional information such as amount of funds under management.

Pensions and Investments, Crain Communications, (800) 678-9595. This is a leading resource in the field of investment, institutional money management and the markets.

Pensions and Investment Age, New York, NY, (212) 210-0120. This is the source of news for money managers, administors of pension plans and trends in investing. This is required reading if you are interested in money management.

Pension World, Communications Channels, Atlanta, GA (404) 256-9800. Provides information on the pension fund industry.

The Prudent Investor, by James Owen, 1993, Probus, $21.95. Describes asset allocation approaches, how to pick a money manager and the pro's and con's of consultants. This book's strength is what it tells us about how the process of selling financial services works.

"Rich Pickings" Institutional Investor, June 1993, p. 55. Describes demographics of high net worth individuals and how they are tracked. If you are interested in money management it is crucial to locate these individuals as customers.

"She Knows How to Pick IPOs" Fortune, November 1995. Interview with Margarita Perez, president of Fortaleza Asset Management. Looks for seasoned Management with long track records.

"The Best Personal Finance Managers in America", Money, December 1994, p. 72. Describes personal financing approaches of selected families. Good background if you are interested in becoming a financial planner.
